Wizard Rock Music

So in the lead up to Leakycon I have been searching the net like crazy for more and more wrock song so we have something to listen to on the drive down to Boston (which is just over 9 hours). And through using Myspace I have been able to find a lot of good bands, that I would never have known about before. So if your into wrock be sure to just search the intergoogles and Myspace and you will find some hidden talent, other then the big bands like the Whomping Willows, Remus Lupins, Ministry of Magic and so on. Leakycon Event List Released

Ok everyone Leakycon has released it's Event List and it's packed with awesomeness. I would copy and paste it here but I don't want to do all the formatting in the text so I'll just send you over to their list. They haven't released the times these thing will be happening though so look out for that.

Nerdfighter, Writers, and Hotness, Oh MY (Keynotes)

So a week ago Leaky announced the Keynote speakers that were going to be at the convention. The first Keynote will be hosted by John and Hank Green, who are known for their popular YouTube channel vlogbrothers. John is an award winning author, and Hank is an environmental blogger. The Nerdfighter Nosh will have John and Hank taking questions, playing music and other random shenanigans . The price for this Keynote is $30 and you get cookies, and your book signed by John Green, if you want him to.

The second Keynote will feature Order of the Phoenix screenwriter Michael Goldenberg. In this $60 Keynote presentation you will learn about the process needed to adapt a novel into a major motion picture, he will also take questions from the audience, and it will include a luncheon.

The third and final Keynote will include Author John Green (Paper Towns, Looking For Alaska) and Editor Cheryl Klein (Harry Potter, Hottt Cheryl PotterCast fame), in which they will talk about the process that is taken between an author and an editor to get a book published. This keynote will only set you back $20, so be sure to check it out

Holly Crap!!!

Ok Holly crap. Leakycon is less the 3 weeks away!!!! Where has the time gone, I register almost a year ago, and I swear it has been the quickest year in the history of years. I haven't updated this in forever, because that's not what I do, im a designer/programmer not updater. So alot of amazing things have happened since I last updated so I will make a seperate post for each today so the front page isnt taken up by one huge story and two little stories. The first big announcement that the Leakycon staff have made is that JK Rowling and Scholastics have donated 10 signed books to the convention, to be raffled off to raise money for charity. The 10 book set includes all 7 American editions of the books, Quiddtch Throught the Ages, Fantastic Beasts, as well as an American version of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. These 10 books will go to one lucky winner on the last day of the conference. Leaky has not yet announced how much the raffle tickets are, but I'm sure they'll sell like crazy. I want to win these so bad, and I feel sorry for the person who wins because they are going to get rushed for the books in a dark alley.

Evil Night

Evil Night is the first of the three wizard rock concerts Leakycon will be putting on. This wrock show will include the bands: Draco and the Malfoys, The Parselmouths, Swish and Flick and Justin Finch-Fletchly and the Sugar Quills. This concert is schedualed to take place on Thursday night from, 8pm to midnight at the castle across the street from The Park Plaza Hotel. Now I've never been to a convention wrock show so I don't know their formats but 4 hours for four bands seems a little extreame, I'm not complaining it's all good, I just think that their may be a few more bands showing up that they havent announced yet, for each show. I know Ministry of Magic, House of Black ,and the Butterbeer Experience are in town as well so they might be throwing them into the three show as guest appearances. So one of those three might be playing that night as well. Wrock on!!!

Nerdfighter Nosh

Nerdfighter Nosh!!!!! This is the thing I'm most excited about. Until I heard John and Hank were coming the main reason I was going to this convention was for the Wrock shows, and then they said that they were coming and I was flipping out. I can't believe that I am actually gonna meet my second favourite author, first being JK Rowling, that woman got me reading. So this Nerdfighter Nosh thing is a two hour presentation thing with John and Hank Green where their going to talk about all things Nerdfighter, like Johns Novels, Hanks songs, their Youtube Channel vlogbrothers and other things. I think there is going to be a question and answer session as well. This two hour presentation will set you back an extra $30 but if your a nerdfighter, it's totally worth it. I think there is also going to be a signing session and picture opportunity but I'm not sure. Leakycon '09

Hello everyone. Okay, first off this isn't an official Leakycon blog, it's just something that I am going to be doing to count down to Leakycon. (I being Chad, a random person who will be attending Leakycon.) I'm also going to be uploading all of my pictures and videos from the convention to this site, so look out for that. So, every day until Leakycon I'm going to update at least once with either some new news about Leakycon, or with things I'm looking forward to at Leakycon, eg. John and Hank Green, meeting Nerimon (Alex Day) and so on. So be sure to watch out for that. Knox! DFTBA!!
